CIRCULAR WALKS
There are many fantastic circular walks in the Chilterns. To follow are just a few:
Chinnor Circular Walk
Starting in Chinnor (5 minutes by car from the Peacock)
5 ½ miles (allow 2 ½ hours) – or take the short cut and do 2 miles
This walk is mainly on paths and bridleways and includes several stiles. The longer route involves a long uphill walk and steep descent; but the views are fantastic.
Saunderton to Bradenham Circular Walk
Starting in Saunderton (five minutes by car from the Peacock)
3 miles, allow 1 ½ hours
This walk has one uphill slope, two stiles and 3 kissing gates
Downley Common to Hughendon Manor Circular Walk
Starting in Downley (15 minutes by car from the Peacock)
2 miles, allow 1 hour
This walk is both uphill and downhill with 2 kissing gates
Coombe Hill Circular Walk
Starting in Wendover (20 minutes by car from the Peacock)
3.5 miles, allow 1 ½ to 2 hours
The walk has 3 stiles, 4 kissing gates and narrow paths. It also involves a steady uphill climb but once at the top of Coombe Hill, the views are panoramic.
Wendover Woods Circular Walk
Starting in Wendover (20 minutes by car from the Peacock)
7 miles, allow 3 ½ to 4 hours
There are no stiles or kissing gates on this route. About a mile of the section from Wendover to The Hale is uphill. There is an All ability Trail suitable for wheelchairs near Wendover Woods main car park.
