There are so many things to do and to see around The Peacock Country Inn. You could ride the steam railway at Chinnor, drive or walk around the many walking trails around the area to experience the Chilterns Area of Nature Beauty.

There are many options in the area from the lovely market town of Thame, or grab a bus or train into Oxford. Or go even further a field with a day trip to London (via train, station 10 minutes drive)

Chinnor (5 minute drive, 40 minute walk)

Old Kiln Lakes & Oakley Hill Nature Reserve

Hidden away at the foot of the Chiltern Hills is Old Kiln Lakes, a converted lime/chalk mining area which has been converted into a housing, 3 beautiful lakes and Oakley Hill Nature reserve, full of plants and wildlife.

Chinnor Hill Nature Reserve

Up on top on hill is Chinnor Hill Nature Reserve a clear stop with in the tree where, on a clear day, you can see all the way to Oxford.

Take a moment to relax and take in the views of the Thames valley and Aylesbury Vale.

Watch the Red Kites fly over head and enjoy the local pilots practicing for air shows above you head (normally May – October)

Chinnor Steam Railway

For steam train lovers, the Chinnor Steam Railway is a must visit. The line currently runs over a 3 ½ mile stretch along the foot of the Chiltern Hills and enjoys some outstanding views. In addition to the standard timetable, the railway operates a number of special events including family attractions.

Thame (10 minutes by car, 60 minutes walking)

This Beautiful market town provides a great day out.

Either a 10 minute drive or around a 60 minute walk though the picturesque countryside.

There are many things to keep you entertained in Thame from one of the longest running Charted markets, on Tuesdays, to the walking to historical route which takes you all around this beautiful old town.

There are plenty of Cafe, coffee shops and pubs to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat.

Oxford (45 minutes by car)

This stunning university town provides a really wonderful day out.

45 minutes via one of the Park and Rides or 40 minute bus ride from Thame

Explore the cobbled streets and impressive colleges and courtyards. Wander around the timeless Covered Market. Take a tour on an open top bus or hire a punt (a boat). Take a picnic and see the views from the River Cherwell which winds its way through this famous city.

We are situated perfectly for a day trip to London.

10 minutes drive down the road is Princess Risborough train station, jump on the train and be in London in around 40 minutes.
